Do I need to unhook the battery of my 2022 Buick Encore GX to flat tow it?

If your 2022 Buick Encore GX is a FWD vehicle, it cannot be flat towed and you would need to use a tow dolly like part # RM-2050-1. If your Encore is an AWD model that's not a Sport Touring model, it can be flat towed as long as you don't exceed 70 mph.
Per the owner's manual, the negative battery terminal does indeed need to be disconnected in order to tow the vehicle. This prevents the battery from being drained. The Roadmaster Automatic Battery Disconnect system, part # RM-766 would be an easy way to disconnect that terminal using a switch without needing to go into the engine compartment each time you tow the vehicle.
In addition to the # RM32FR Roadmaster direct connect baseplate kit you'd looked at, you'll need a few other items to complete your flat towing system. I'll make some recommendations below:
• Roadmaster Falcon All Terrain Tow Bar, part # RM-522
• Safety cables like # RM-643
• Diode wiring kit, part # RM-15267
• Roadmaster Even Brake Portable Braking System # RM-9400 along with # RM62FR stoplight switch and
# RM-9332 12-v outlet kit
