Yellow and Green Wire Have No Voltage on a 2010 Ford F-150 When Hooking Up Boat Trailer
Updated 06/07/2013 | Published 06/05/2013 >
Question:
I have a pull pack on my 2010 ford F-150 so I bought an adapter so I can hook my boat trailer up and that has a 4 prong hook up for the lights. The brakes and turn signals dont work. So I tested the volts on the truck side and Im not getting any volts from the yellow and green wire. I checked all the fuses and they seem to be fine. What else should I check? Thanks

In the 2010 Ford F-150 there are two fuse panels. One is located under the battery and the other one is in either the driver or passengers kick plate. I found a copy of the 2010 Ford F-150 owners manual on line and the fuse location is number 6 for the turn signals/stop lamps.
If the tow package was installed by the factory there is a relay that is supposed to protect your fuses and that may be blown. The relay is located in the power distribution box under the hood - it is position numbers 37 and 38.
If the tow package was aftermarket, a relay may not have been installed, therefore the secondary fuse panel may have fuse location number 6 and it may be the blown fuse you are looking for.
I have attached a troubleshooting FAQ article that may assist you.
