Do The Towing Capacity Differences of Curt and etrailer Trailer Hitches For 2021 Ford Ranger Matter
Question:
I am looking for a trailer hitch for my 2021 Ford Ranger and noticed that the Curt and etrailer hitches available have pretty different towing capacities. Does that make any difference for my truck?

I looked up the capacities of your 2021 Ford Ranger and found that as long as the trailer you are pulling has trailer brakes then your truck will have a maximum towing capacity of 7,500lbs.
The Curt # C13417 and etrailer Trailer Hitch # e63AR actually have the same towing capacities. They only have a 6,000lb trailer weight rating and 900lb tongue weight rating. The towing capacities increase to 8,000 pounds when used with weight distribution, so they could limit how heavy of a trailer you can tow unless you use weight distribution.
You will also need to have a 7-way connector installed on your truck so I recommend the # C56431, and to be able to control your electric trailer brakes you will need a trailer brake controller. I recommend the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 as it plugs directly in to your newly installed 7-way connector and will not require any additional wiring or drilling holes in the interior of your truck like other controllers.
I included video reviews of the products mentioned for you to take a look at.
