Question:

Whats the largest fuel can that can be used on an outpost hd with the side bars. The outpost side bars sit a little lower than the overhaul hd side bars. I just want the largest can I can fit with out hitting the bedrail. My iut post hd is mounted on retrax pro xr for a 2020 Toyota tundra. Im ready to order just unsure of which size tank. Thanks

It sounds like you are asking about the largest fuel can you can attach to the Rotopax Mounting Kit for Yakima OverHaul HD and OutPost HD Truck Bed Ladder Racks # Y01167.

If that is the case, this mounting kit has a weight capacity of 40 lbs. Although we do not carry Rotopax gas cans, it looks like the largest single mount can they have is 3 gallons. That is about 24 lbs of fuel so there is no concern there. In terms of physical size, the widest gas can is also the 3 gallon at 15 inches. Since this mounts roughly in the center of the can, and the mounting kit is in the center of your SideBar Rails, I recommend measuring from the center of your SideBar to the top of your rail to see how much clearance you have in order to decide if the can will fit. If you choose to mount the 4 gallon can you will need two mounts instead of one, and the width of this can is 13-1/4 inches.

If you were not referring to the Rotopax you would still need to measure the distance from your SideBars to the top of the rail to know how much clearance you have. That will be what determines the size you are able to mount, depending on how it is mounted. The SideBar Rails # Y01153 have a 100 lb capacity so as long as you are not exceeding the capacity of the SideBar or the rack overall you shouldn't have a problem.
