Can Moon Roof be Opened with Curt Cargo Basket Mounted on Roof Rack

Question:

I have a 2008 Dodge Nitro slt, with moon roof, and factory rails on the roof. Will this basket sit far enough back to not obstruct the moon roofs operation? Thanks

The small rungs on the Curt Cargo Basket # C18115 are roughly 4" apart so with the mounting brackets in the positions that you see on our site (see attached photo) the basket will overhang your front crossbar by about 8" give or take. With that being said, odds are that the mounting hardware for the basket and the height of your crossbars will be the limiting factor as opposed to the basket itself (since the basket will be sitting above your roof rack).

The U-Bolts that come with this cargo basket have a diameter of about 1/4" so your best bet is to see how much room you have right now between your crossbars and the moon roof. If you have more than 1/4" of space then you should be just fine. If you're near or right at the 1/4" spacing then we might need to look for an alternative solution. Let me know if this is the case and I can help you figure out how to get some additional carrying space on your Nitro.
