Question:

It says in the manual flat towing could damage your drive train components. does this mean i would just need to install a trans lube pump or this in addition to removing the drive shaft?. I would really like any advice you can give on how I could get this vehicle to be flat towed at a reasonable cost. thanks in advance for your help.

From the research I did you would need to install a lube pump in order to flat tow your 2008 Chevy 1500. However, you will need to go by what is in the owners manual of your vehicle as the final authority, or you can contact a Chevy dealership for their recommendations. At this time we do not carry lube pumps either.

If you do determine that you can flat tow your vehicle the first thing you are going to need is set of base plates to provide the attachment point from the vehicle to the tow bars. This base plate kit is compatible with the Roadmaster Tracker Tow Bar # RM-020 that you referenced also.

You will also need safety cables. I recommend Roadmaster safety cables, part # RM-643. These are coiled so they will not drag on the ground.

The next component you will need is lighting. I would recommend you go with a TowDaddy Tow Bar Wiring Kit # TM780017. This product wires into your tail light wiring to activate your tail lights.

And finally, most states now require a supplemental braking system on the vehicle being towed. The easiest to install and use is the Roadmaster Even Brake portable proportional braking system, part # RM-9400. This unit activates the brakes on the vehicle being towed in proportion to how much the RV is braking. This is the safest type of braking action, and it reduces wear and tear on the RV and towed vehicle brakes.
