Do You Grease Inside Of Dexter Nev-R-Lube Hub Or On The Spindle Before Installing The Hub?
Updated 09/27/2021 | Published 09/26/2021 >
Question:
Do I need to put grease in the inside of the hub that has the preinstalled bearings? Without taking the bearings and inside of the hub apart to grease it Should I also grease on the axle before reinstalling the drum to the axle assembly? I saw a video but its for a different from assembly and and they added grease. Since these at NevrLub is this greasing necessary? What type of grease? Thank you

Expert Reply:
The Trailer Hub & Drum Assembly # 8-388-80UC3 you were looking at is designed specifically for 42mm Dexter Nev-R-Lube axles and you do not grease any of the components. This hub has sealed bearing cartridges which do not get greased.
Now if you were installing a standard hub with normal bearings then yes, you would pack the bearings with grease, and grease the spindle before installing the hub.
I included a video review of the # 8-388-80UC3 for you to take a look at.
