Combined Weight Capacity Of The Retrax Pro XR With Yakima Outpost HD

Question:

Hello. Reading the specs on the Yakima truck rack kits for the Retrax rail system, and both state a maximum load of 300 lbs. I believe an earlier post of yours stated it could handle a load of 500 lbs. I’m looking at purchasing the RetraxPro XR, with the Yakima Outpost HD system, along with an RTT, but I am a little concerned I could damage something since total weight of tent and sleepers will definitely be over 300 lbs. what are your thoughts on this?

The RetraxONE XR Hard Tonneau Cover # RTT-60454 has a maximum weight capacity of 200lbs when evenly dispersed and The RetraxPRO XR Hard Tonneau Cover # RTT-80243 has a maximum weight capacity of 500lbs when evenly dispersed.

However, the Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack w/ Tonneau Cover Adapter # Y01152-5855 is rated for 300lbs on-road, and 180lbs off-road. This kit includes the adapters for the Tonneau cover while the Yakima OutPost HD Overland Truck Bed Rack - Aluminum # Y01152-58, which includes everything and is rated for 500lbs on road, and 300lbs off road and does not include the adapters.

You are only safely capable up to your lowest rated component, so on the road you're rated for 1,000lbs, and off the road you're rated for 800lbs. As long as your tent and sleepers don't weigh over 800lbs you should be fine.
