Are There Radial Tires That Can Replace 4.80/4.00-8 Tires On a Trailer
Updated 08/23/2021 | Published 08/21/2021 >
Question:
I recently purchased a used trailer with 4.80-8 tires. Clearance from the top of the tire to the fenders is 4. It currently has bias ply tires. I plan on taking it on a fishing trip in about 6 months and the location is about 1100 miles away. Im concerned that bias ply tires arent appropriate. What are my options? Are there any radials available at this size or can I change to a bigger size that I can get a radial?

I do have an option for you but there won't be enough room to mount radial tires. The minimum size needed for radial is 12". I recommend simply purchasing new bias ply tires so you can be sure they are in good shape for the trip. The Kenda K371 Bias Trailer Tire part # AM10004 is what I recommend which has a load range c rating. If you want to purchase the tire and wheel pre-mounted which is usually more cost effective than paying to have what the old tires removed and new ones mounted, you can take a look at the options below based on bolt pattern.
