Trailer Tire Recommendation for Size ST175/80-13 of Boat Trailer
Updated 08/17/2021 | Published 08/16/2021 >
Question:
I just got a used boat. The trailer had 175 75 r13 tires on it that I replaced with the same tire. The boat has only been driven less than 100 or so miles and one blew. Are these correct and what size tire can I use in place of these.

Expert Reply:
The tire size of 175/75-13 is not a standard trailer tire size so that makes me think you are using a passenger vehicle tire which might explain why you had a failure. I'd recommend going with the closest tire size that is rated for a trailer like our high quality Westlake ST175/80R13 # LHWL101 which will fit on your current rim and will last a long time as long as you don't exceed it's speed rating of 75 mph, it's weight rating of 1,360 lbs and keep it inflated to it's max psi rating of 50.
