I recently purchased the Curt wireless brake controllerand wonder if I can use an old cell phone as a kind of dedicated brake controller. It does not have a SIM, but does have bluetooth capability.

That's an interesting question, and yes, you can use your older phone as a kind of dedicated brake controller with the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180.

The phone will need to have the app downloaded so you'll need a data connection for that; afterwards the Echo connects to your phone with Bluetooth and data isn't necessary. So you can do this if you don't want to use your current phone with the Echo.
