Troubleshooting Curt Echo C51180 Having No Lights When Plugged Into 2021 Volvo XC90
Updated 08/16/2021 | Published 08/14/2021 >
Question:
When I plug the Curt Echo into my 7-way, the light does not light up. Then when I plug the trailer into the Echo, the light on the 7 way starts flashing green. It seems that means the car is not supplying power to the Echo, but when the trailer is plug in, the trailers battery is supplying power. Does it sound like I have a faulty 7 way controller?

Based on the issue you are describing you do not have a faulty Curt Echo # C51180, and instead your 2021 Volvo XC90 is not sending power to the 7-way connector until it detects a trailer is plugged in. This is pretty common in newer Volvo's.
What you will need to do is plug the Echo into your 7-way connector like you did, then plug the trailer in. Once the green flashing light appears then go onto the Curt app and pair the Echo.
This will get you all setup and ready to hit the road.
I included a video of the # C51180 for you to take a look at.
