Trailer Tire And Recommendation For 8x8 Foot Trailer Carrying 2 800cc ATVs

Question:

I need to buy 2 new tires for my atv trailer dim. 8X8 which hauls 2 atv 800s. The tire size is 18.5X8.5-8. Will a tire with a C load work for that kind of load?

Expert Reply:

After some research, I have found that based on the weight of the 2 ATVs and your trailer, a tire with a load range of C (a 6 ply rated tire with a maximum load of 1760 lbs at 50 psi) is a compatible fit for your trailer.

The size you referenced 18.5/8.5-8 is an older style of tire sizing. The newer version of that is 215/60-8.

If you have trailer built for a 4-bolt wheel, I recommend the Kenda Tire and Wheel # AM3H290. If it is a 5-bolt wheel, I recommend the # AM3H310. Both have a weight capacity of 935 lbs apiece for a total of 1870 lbs, which should be enough for the combined weight of your trailer and your 2 ATVs if your trailer is a single-axle with 2 tires. If it is not, let me know and I will research your question further.

I have provided links to video reviews of both these tire/wheel sets.
