What replacement handle should I purchase to match this? Would it be better to purchase a whole new winch?

The Replacement Handle # DL70305 has the same shaft mount of 3/8" wide on the flat surfaces and 1/2" wide on the round opening as your Shelby 5403 winch.

Currently your winch has been out of production for 5 years and parts are near impossible to come by. For this reason you may be better off replacing the entire winch. I recommend the Fulton F2 Fully Enclosed Trailer Winch with Strap # FW16000101 as the aluminum frame will not rust and it will protect the strap from damaging UV rays. A 20' strap is included and it has a weight rating of 1,600lbs which is 700 more than your current winch.
