Question:
Hi, I Have a few questions for you. I will be getting either the Draw-Tite # 24965 or Curt # C11402 trailer hitch for my 2019 Hyundai Sonata would you recommend one over the other for a bike rack?. I am looking for a bike rack that will fit a class one 1-1/4inch hitch opening that will support my 2 heavy fat tire e-bikes 65 lbs each. I was wondering if you had any suggestions / preferences. I was looking at the Thule EasyFold XT Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes Item # TH903202, which seems like it will work, but I will need to order Extra-long wheel straps for my fat tires. Where can I order those extra long straps? Also that rack is a bit on the higher end of my budget, so would you have any other racks that would be able to carry 2 heavy, fat tire e-bikes that fit into a 1-1/4 receiver? Thanks and I look forward to hearing your suggestions! Louis

As far as a hitch recommendation between the Draw-Tite # 24965 and the Curt # C11402 for your 2019 Hyundai Sonata, I recommend the Draw-Tite # 24965 only if your 2019 Hyundai Sonata if your model is not a hybrid Sonata. The Draw-Tite hitch is a great economic hitch that provides the same 200-pound tongue weight capacity and 2,000 pound gross trailer towing weight as the Curt # C11402. However, the Draw-Tite only fits on models that are not hybrids. If you have a hybrid model, I recommend going with the Curt # C11402. With both of these hitches, you will not have a problem with bumper clearance because the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 has a measurement of 8 inches from the shank's pinhole to the closest part of the upright mast of the rack.
That being said, the Thule EasyFold XT # TH903202 is a great option for your 2 65-pound fat tire bikes. The EasyFold XT has a per-bike weight capacity of 65 pounds, and we here at etrailer always recommend that you transport your electric bikes without the batteries attached to avoid any damage from bumps and added torque. For the fat tire straps, you will need part # TH985101.
If you are looking for a more economical rack, I recommend the Hollywood Racks Sport Rider SE Bike Rack for 2 Electric Bikes - 1-1/4" and 2" Hitches # HLY74FR. The Sport Rider SE will fit 1-1/4 inch hitches and has an impressive per-bike weight capacity of 80 pounds. It also has cradles that will hold bike tires up to 5 inches wide.
