Question:

I have been chasing lots of leads trying to get something in print with Kia name on it saying it is ok to flat tow 2021 Kia Soul with manual transmission. I see you sell a baseplate and arms for the 2021 Kia Soul so I assume you are saying it is flat towable. I am attaching two sheets that I have gotten from Kia, which the way I read it does confirm the 2021 Kia Soul is flat towable if it has the manual transmission. Do you agree? If so I want to go ahead and buy car and set up with your Service Department to install items in Soul and my Sprinter RV also.

You are correct that we have base plates available for the 2021 Kia Soul as some configurations of this model are able to be flat towed, providing specific conditions are met. The vehicle specific owners manual should always be followed and recognize that the OEM, in this case Kia, is the authority on how to successfully tow their vehicle. If your vehicle specific owners manual states that your 2021 Kia Soul is not to be flat-towed then I would be cautious about attempting to do otherwise.

From information available to me a manual transmission equipped 2021 Kia Soul can be flat-towed with certain conditions and must be a FWD vehicle.

I suggest the Blue Ox Base Plate Kit, # BX2727 as it is a confirmed fit for 2021 Kia Soul models.

The Blue Ox Avail Tow Bar, # BX7420 is a great tow bar that is easy to use with self-aligning arms that telescope to automatically center and lock in place.

For lighting, I suggest the Roadmaster Diode 7-Wire to 6-Wire Flexo-Coil Wiring Kit, # RM-15267. Please note the attached installation video for this product. This will splice into your taillight wiring to allow your tow vehicle to control the taillight assemblies of the towed vehicle. This comes with a round 6-way connector that you will install on the front of your towed vehicle and enough coiled wire to go from there to the RV.

For supplemental braking that is required by law, I suggest the Blue Ox Patriot # BLU37TR, this will apply the vehicles brakes in proportion to how much the tow vehicle is braking. This is the safest way to stop and it reduces wear and tear on both vehicles.

Most likely you will also need a high low adapter so that the tow bar will be level when you are flat towing. Please see the attached links and help articles.
