For the 1983 GMC Vandura 2500, I recommend using the Curt hitch item# C13016 because the hitch crossbar is concealed behind the bumper and has a higher towing capacity of 6k lbs. I've included a link for the installation instructions.
If you are also looking for a wiring harness I would recommend the Tekonsha kit # 118338.

We do have a hitch that fits your 1983 GMC Vandura but the Curt C13900 hitch will not be compatible with your vehicle. I recommend using the Curt hitch item # C13016 because the hitch crossbar is concealed behind the bumper and has a higher towing capacity of 6k lbs.
