What Prevents Curt Echo Mobile Brake Controller from Falling Out When Travelling

Question:

With the Curt wireless controller plugged into the vehicle and the trailer plugged into the Curt it seems like there would be a considerably downforce tending to pull the unit out of the 7 wire connection. Any comments?

The lids of 7-ways have a spring loaded catch on them that holds the connector into the socket. This prevents the 7-way, or in this case the Curt Echo part # C51180 from being able to fall out while in use. So basically when you go to install this controller you have to pull up on a spring loaded lid of the 7-way. That lid once released will pull down on the controller's tab that locks it into place so that it doesn't fall out.
