Question:
I have a 1959 Hawthorne trailer that needs a new wiring harness, the colors of the wires on the trailer are from 1959 and do not match up with the adapter I bought. Is there a cross reference to show what color is supposed to be with the old colors?

If your current wiring is still working a Test Light # PTW2993 can be used to help determine what color wire controls what on your current wiring at the taillights and any marker lights along the way. I have also linked an article on 4-way wiring below for you to reference as well. Otherwise you can use a 12 volt battery grounded to your trailer chassis to test the individual wiring by providing battery positive to each wire to determine what each wire powers.
I recommend replacing the entire harness front to back on your 1959 Hawthorne Trailer. With a new harness you will be able to run all new wiring all the way to the lights reducing any chances of old damaged wires causing issues later.
We have a few different kits for you to choose from based off the length of the wiring you will need. These harnesses will require a chassis negative ground connection for the ground circuits.
20 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A20WB
35 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A35W42B
40 Ft 4-Way Trailer Wiring Harness # A40W42B
The wires are pre set in a wishbone configuration so that there is one green and one brown wire for the right side of the trailer and one yellow and one brown wire for the left side of the trailer. The green wire is for the right turn/brake light, yellow wire is for the left turn/brake light, brown is for the running lights and the short white wire will ground to the chassis on your trailer.
