Aren’t the disc and drum master cylinder the same which is why the drum application requires the orifice to connect the brake line where the disc does not?

No. The Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly for Titan Model 6 Brake Actuators - Disc # T1777405 and Replacement Master Cylinder Assembly for Titan Model 6 Brake Actuators - Drum # T1777401 are two different parts. Disc brakes require a higher pressurization to actuate than drum brakes do, so it's likely they may look the same but the pressurized components are rated differently. If you have a disc brake actuator then you'll want to use the specific # T1777405.
