Once there hit with power surge are they done?

The Camco RV Power Defender Voltage Protector - 50 Amp Item # CAM55306 is designed to sacrifice itself if it's hit with 2800 or more joules of power (i.e. lightning strike). So yes, if it was hit with a strong enough power surge it would be done.
