Question:

With the arms fully extended, the safety cables are about 1inch from reaching attach point on vehicle so I am going to need to buy extension cables, How much slack should the safety cables have, when arms are fully extended?

If the included safety cables on your etrailer SD Non-Binding Tow Bar for Blue Ox Base Plates - RV Mount - 2" Hitch - 6,000lbs Item # e47ZR aren't reaching the attachment points then I recommend using the RoadMaster 68" Single Hook, Coiled Safety Cables - 6,000lbs Item # RM-643 instead.

You'll want to have enough slack so that the cables don't snap when you're making a turn but you also don't want the cables to drag on the ground. The best part about coiled cables is that the excess will coil up to prevent dragging.
