Troubleshooting Curt Echo Wireless C51180 Not Working When Plugged Into 2020 Ford Ranger

Question:
Have had this controller since 2019 used on 2001 ford f-150 worked really well, but now have 2020 ford ranger and having some issues. After I connect to both trailer and vehicle the orange manual button comes on but the blue line is completely around it and the message says brakes have been applied I have been to ford dealer but they said truck is wired correctly. I havent been able to check if +12 volt pin is hot because trailer must be attached for the pin to be active. I do get solid green light and all lights function as the should. Any help is greatly appreciated. One final note, even though phone says brakes applied, they are not as I cannot detect any drag, vehicle will roll on once truck brake is released. I apologize for the length but I really like this controller and hope can fix the problem. Thank you

I have a replacement option for you, but unfortunately the older models of the Curt Echo Wireless # C51180 like yours do not have the upgraded hardware and load resistors to work properly with your new 2020 Ford Ranger.
The only option will be to replace the controller with a new # C51180 which will have the upgraded hardware and built in load resistors allowing it to function properly.
Since the # C51180 you have will still work on older vehicles that do not have the computer controlled trailer system, you can resell it to offset a lot of the cost.
I included a video of the # C51180 for you to take a look at.
