1-step Electric Steps With 2-Step Electric Steps On Itasca 31T Motorhome

Question:

We have a 2006 Itasca 31T motor home with the automatic steps. there is only one step and would like to put on new unit with 2 steps. (Additional Information: Entry height is 14-1/2", and door way width is 28".)

The motorized steps are designed to have the bottom step 6 to 8 inches off the ground which puts you in a difficult spot. One step is not enough and two steps are too many. The 2-step unit that fits most closely is the Lippert # LC3726892 model. It is 25-7/8" wide so there would be a one inch gap on each side. Then it is designed for an entry height of 17-1/4" where as you have a 14-1/2" entry height. With that in mind, instead of having 6 to 8 inches from the bottom step to the ground, it would be more like 3 to 5"to the ground. All of the other choices that more closely fit your entry height are 1-step models, like you already have.

You might also consider the Safety Step # SASXL-08C-G platform step that would bridge the gap and give you a step at the height you need. If fully collapsed it would work in concert with your current one-step to fit your need for an extra step.
