Expert Reply:
This particular trailer hitch receiver, Curt # C13316, comes with sixteen plastic rivets. With regards to the compatibility, the Curt C13316 trailer hitch receiver works with a bike rack that has at least 1.5" between the center of the pitch pin hole and the front edge of the hitch receiver. The Thule EasyFold XT 2 bike rack, part # TH903202, does provide that. For a rack to clear the bumper of a 2016 BMW X3 it needs to be at least 3.5" from the bumper to the center of the pitch pin hole. The Thule EasyFold XT 2 provides 9.5' inches of clearance.
