Towing Benefits From The Edge Gas Evolution CTS3 Tuner On 2004 Chevy Silverado

Question:

I picked up an 04 silverado with the 5.3 the previous owner had the window sticker also. It claims it has the heavy duty tow package and 3.73 gears, to shorten the story I had to throw airbags under it to keep the bumper off the ground and I was looking into re gearing, but wondering what your chip does for the towing? How does/ will I benefit from this over gearing?

Edge states that the Edge Gas Evolution CTS3 Performance Tuner # EP39YR will add about 13hp and 18ft-lbs torque on a Silverado with the 5.3 V8 such as your 2004 model; keep in mind this will vary depending on application and other modifications. It does have a tow mode which allows for different shift points for more effective pulling. I think this is a great route for aiding your truck in pulling, however, I don't think it will be as substantial of a difference compared to changing your entire gearing ratio or upgrading the transmission.
