What are the DeeZee Headache Rack Brackets Made of and Can the Rack be Modified for Stake Access
Updated 04/27/2021 | Published 04/26/2021 >
Question:
I need to know what the bed lip mounting brackets are made of. Steel or aluminum? Still need to use the forward stake pockets for my stake sides to carry firewood, etc. so can this headache rack be modified for rectangular tubing to be welded to mounting brackets and thus fit into the stake pockets? I realize this may void the warranty but I havent found any headache racks that include holes for the stake pockets yet.

The DeeZee Aluminum Headache Rack with Sliding Load Stops, part # DZ95050RB, has aluminum brackets.
As for modifying the headache rack, you can certainly do that. Most anything can be cut/welded to suit your needs. Of course, this will void your warranty as you said, and there is no guarantee it will work or perform they way it is designed to. In other words, you can but it's risky so I can't recommend doing it.
