Question:
My local store offers a left side trailer light but no matching right one. Is there some reason I cant just paint over the white light on the right side and use two of the left side lights?

I can see the possibility of 2 issues presenting themselves.
First would be the mounting brackets. If they are offset the bracket may not be able to fit your mount. Or if the lights are only designed to slide on one direction like the Blazer LED Trailer Tail Lights # C7483RTM and # C7493RTM. If the bolts were to loosen the light could slide off the bolts and be dragged by the wiring.
Second is if the lights have a weep hole to release any water that would accumulate in the lens. When you flip the light 180 degrees(you would have to do that so the reflector is visible to the side of the trailer) to mount on the passenger side this may allow the light to hold water and would not drain as designed.
