Curt Echo Brake Controller Won't Power On But 12 Volt Circuit Works
Updated 04/21/2021 | Published 04/17/2021 >
Question:
Hi, Ive used this brake controller twice and everything worked as expected. On my most recent camping trip the Curt wireless brake controller would not power up when inserted into the truck. In fact, it prevented DC power from reaching the trailer. I was able to connect the trailer directly to the truck and not use the brake controller and the lights and dc power to the trailer worked fine. I definitely have power going to the 7 pin but the brake controller appears to be dead. It is not a bluetooth issue because I cannot get the controller to light up at all when plugged in. Any idea what the issue could be?

Thank you for purchasing from etrailer the Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller # C51180. Normally if the Echo will not power on, the issue is with the 12 volt circuit on the 7-way and we'd have you test that.
However, in your case, since you know the 12 volt circuit is working, and the Echo is simply not receiving power, the controller has become defective and will need to be replaced. The good news is that Echo does have a lifetime warranty, so a replacement from Curt isn't something you will have to purchase.
