Will Camco RV Replacement Water Heater Element CAM04363 Work With Atwood GCH6-6E

Updated 04/16/2021 | Published 04/14/2021

Question:

I am trying to find a replacement bolt-in heating element for my Atwood 6 gallon water heater model GCH6-6E. The element measures about 7-1/2inch to 8inch long. The numbers on the element are 120V 1500W. Numbers on the other side of the element are hard to read but it looks like the numbers are FT6 1163L L008 0. I have had someone trying to help me as I am elderly and disabled. He seems to think any old element will do. I rejected the 240V element he got. Then he got a screw-in type with the correct volt and watts with some sort of converter plate. However, the converter plate didnt work as it is totally flat where the bolts go. That area on the water heater is raised. Now he wants to try buying some sort of gasket in a tube to make the plate work. I have been without hot water since Hurricane Laura back in August. Im tired of tryingfoot to do this and that to rig the water heater. Im also getting extremely upset and testy over this entire thing. I cannot afford a service person and cant trust anyone to help me so must do this myself. Please tell me this is the correct replacement so I can get it ordered and delivered here ASAP. By Saturday if possible. I dont care how much extra the shipping costs. Thank you for your time and help.

I did some research and your Atwood water heater GCH6-6E is able to use a bolt-on element, and the compatible element is indeed the Camco RV Replacement Water Heater Element - Universal - 1,500W/120V # CAM04363.

I have added a link below to a video review for you as well if you'd like to take a look.
