Question:

So, Curt Echo, working great, brake wise,, but rv battery not getting enough current to stay charged enough to run fridge going down road. Unplug Echo, vehicle charges normally. Also Echo seems to not allow other electric functions in rv from vehicle, but all work when removed from circuit. Has hd alternator designed for that purpose. Is there a work around? Has anyone else this issue? Or is Echo not functioning properly.

If you have A blue light on the Echo and all of the other functions are working, then your Echo is working as designed.

The Curt Echo Mobile Trailer Brake Controller # C51180 does share the 12V power with the trailer so your battery will still receive a charge but it will be reduced since the Echo will be diverting some of that power to the trailer brakes when you are braking.

If you have a battery charger like the BCDC # 331-BCDC1225D on your trailer which is designed to boost the power received to match what the trailer battery needs then this wouldn't be as great a concern but if you're relying solely on the 12V power from your pickup to charge the battery (which still wouldn't be the greatest option) the Echo would definitely have an effect on that.
