How To Determine Axle Rating Of Dexter Torsion Axles

Question:
Hi, have a question on what weight my new to me equipment trailer axels are. Was told by the previous owner that they are 7k, but wanting to make sure before I go loading it up that they are indeed 7k. Has two Dexter torsion axels, 8 lug rims 4 wheels total, electric breaks on both axels. Square tube of the axel is about 3-3/8x3-3/8. It looks like it says Dexter L 18 S 69 81 on the arm.

The best way to confirm the weight capacity of your Dexter Torsion Axles is to find the lot number on the axle tag which is located on the center of the axle on the rear side. This tag should say Dexter Axle and then a 9 digit number. The number you provided did not cross reference to any axles.
Since the axles are not in the trailer the originally came in, this is the only way to be sure of the axle rating. If you know the owner of the trailer the axles came from you could also use the GVWR of that trailer to determine the axle rating.
If you can let me know the serial number I would be happy to help you find the axle rating of your axles.
