Question:

Chrysler TandCountry 2008 I bought a kit recentlyF4169 and my concern is with the air line which is press fit into the air bags and the air valves.Are these as effective as kit # al60743 which are connected using clamps. I have not yet installed the kit on my van.

Firestone Coil-Rite Rear Axle Air Helper Springs, part # F4169, do use pressure-fit air hose connections as you noted. I spoke to a technician at Firestone about the concern of the air lines staying place. He confirmed that the fittings used are barbed and that with the moderate maximum pressure of this system, 35 psi, that it is very unlikely for an air hose to come loose from the bag or the inflation fitting.

The other part you reviewed, Air Lift AirLift 1000 Air Helper Springs, part # AL60743, are not a correct fit for your vehicle. AirLift Part # AL60814 is a correct fit. However, I did speak to one of their technicians also, and he advised that even though they supply small clamps, these are merely an extra security measure and with the same 35 psi maximum pressure as the Firestone bags, these lines too are very unlikely to become disconnected from the bags unless pulled on.

For both kits zip ties to secure the air lines are provided and if these are installed there is virtually no risk of an airline coming loose without direct mechanical force.

We do recommend a tubing cutter such as part # AL10530, which will enable clean and perfectly square cuts, as these are important to proper system function.
