The recommended maximum speed for the Glacier Cable Snow Tire Chain (discontinued) PW4045C is 30 mph. Speeds faster than that may increase wear on the chains and could lead to part failure.

When using a tire chain, you will want to install them immediately to ensure a proper fit under optimal conditions so you will have a better idea of how to install them in inclement weather. Also, once they are installed for actual use, you should drive approximately 1/4 mile, then stop and re-tighten the chains. You will not need to drive during the initial non-inclement weather testing as it is not recommended that you use tire chains on dry pavement.

You might also be interested in our Glacier Rubber Adjusters # PW97. They fit rims from 19-1/2-24-1/2 inches and make it easier for the chains to fit your tires and for them to provide a tighter fit. This product comes with 2 adjusters.

I have included links to our FAQ pages on tire chains and on Glacier tire chains specifically.
