Question:
Hi. I have a 2018 RAM 1500 on lease thats up in April 21. Truck has no brake controller on it. Getting a new snowmobile trailer end of Jan. I have questions about the Curt Echo Wireless unit as this seems to be a good option for short term use on lease vehicle. The trailer is a 7x23 in-line with GVWR of 6990 lbs. Dual Axle. These Curt Echo units. Ive seen some people say that it would just apply the brakes randomly. Its rare report. have seen on Amazon mostly. What do you know about this? Is this more likely due to user error, perhaps improper gain setup prior to them towing, etc.? Any other opinion on this or another proportional controller to recommend for my situation would be good. Ill likely replace this truck with another RAM, likely with built in controller in future. Thanks. I look forward to the input.

The Curt Echo Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # C51180 is a great option for any vehicle. It was released in 2018 and there were some bugs with the app during the early stages but these have since been resolved with simple software updates. It's a five star rated brake controller with reported issues being few and far between outside of the first released software.
There is however another similar option if you are not sold on the Echo, the Tekonsha Prodigy RF Wireless Trailer Brake Controller part # TK94FR which is the newer second generation.
