Question:
I bought a hitch for my 2007 Santa Fe and it gives so much that when I put my wife’s wheel chair on it it almost hits the ground. Is there someway I can strengthen it

We have a couple of potential options for you that can help, but there isn't a way to strengthen a hitch in regards to its capacity. So the first thing to do is check to ensure you aren't exceeding the tongue weight limit of the hitch that is on your 2007 Hyundai Santa Fe. So just be sure your wife's wheelchair and I assume wheelchair carrier is no more than 350 lbs if your 2007 Santa Fe has the Curt Trailer Hitch # 13538 or 525 lbs if you have the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch # 75471.
When you say "almost hits the ground" I assume you are talking about the wheelchair carrier so the first thing I recommend is to add one or two of the Curt Cam Buckle Stabilizing Strap for Hitch-Mounted Accessories # 18050.
This will help remove some of the stress and give you additional support for the carrier. The other thing you can do, if you find your Santa Fe to be sagging in the rear as well, is to add suspension support with the Coil SumoSprings Custom Helper Springs # CSS-1168R.
These springs will install between the individual coil loops in your Santa Fe's rear coil spring to help counter the sag you are experiencing when hauling your wife's wheelchair. I have added links below to instructions and video reviews for you to check out as well if you'd like.
