Question:
I am looking to potentially get a brake controller for my 2010 Chevy Express 1500 passenger van. My van already has a 4-way and 7-way plug wired up. I also found 4 wires that would connect to the brake controller under the dash above the brake pedal. Do I need to wire up a wire harness to these 4 wires or could I hardwire them to a brake controller? Is there anything else that I would need to install a brake controller on my van? Thanks

The Chevrolet Express Vans all have the four brake controller wires under the dash but the issue with these which I have run into many times is that they aren't always active. If they aren't active you will have to do a full hardwire. That said, if you have the factory four and seven way connector they likely are active. Regardless of this I like the Redarc Tow-Pro Liberty Brake Controller part # RED24FR and part # RED69FR which I have attached my review video of below.
If the brake controller circuits aren't active you'll also want to use the Brake Controller Wiring Kit part # 5506.
