Question:
How to I get a direct connect wiring harness for a Toyota RAV 4 - 2012? Are they made or do I need to use another years model?

The Curt trailer wiring harness # C56165 as well as the Tow Ready harness # 118412 are T-connectors that plug in line with the vehicle tail lights, if that is what you mean by direct connect. Both harnesses are custom made to fit the 2012 Toyota RAV4. You cannot use the harness for a different year (the above items fit back to 2006) because they will not work.
Either harness is going to require a direct connection to the battery to power the trailer lights. This protects the vehicle wiring and electrical components from damage. I have included a link to an FAQ article on routing the power wire.
I have included a link to the installation instructions and a link to a video showing installation of Curt harness C56165.
