Setting the Gain and Getting Ready to Tow with the Brake Controller on a 2012 Ram
Updated 12/10/2020 | Published 12/09/2020 >
Question:
My controller only goes up to 1.0 when using the brake pedal. When I slide the lever I get full 10 power braking. Is this normal? Also is the yellow trailer symbol on the controller supposed to be lit when connected to a trailer ? Mine is not

It sounds like you need to adjust the gain on your controller. The + and - buttons will raise/lower the setting. If the controller is set at 1.0, then that's as high as it will go when you press the brake. Use the + button to set this to a higher number, and that new number will be the new cap when you press on the brake.
The TOW/HAUL indicator light will not light up when connected without pressing the TOW/HAUL button on your center console. This is important as your 2012 Ram will not recognize it is towing a trailer until that is pressed.
