Since you have a functioning 7-way connector already installed on your 2017 Ford Explorer you will not need anything else to use the Curt Echo Wireless Brake Controller # C51180.
That is hands down the best feature of the Curt Echo # C51180! No wiring or drilling holes in the dash to mount a trailer brake controller.
All you will need to do is plug the Echo # C51180 into your 7-way connector, download the app on your smartphone, pair your phone with the Echo, and you are ready to tow.
Since you are planning on towing you will want to make sure you have a ball mount, hitch ball, and hitch pin and clip. I recommend taking a look a the etrailer Ball Mount Kit for 2" receivers # 989900 since it comes with two ball mounts, two hitch balls, two hitch pins and clips, and a carrying case.
I included a video of the Curt Echo # C51180 for you to take a look at.
