Recommended Suspension and Sway Control for Springdale Trailer and 2018 Ford F-150

Question:

I have a Springdale trailer that I tow with my 2018 f-150. It’s a 2wd with max tow package. I feel the trailer more in terms of sway or pushing in my new truck versus my 2005 f150. Would the Firestone road master be a good solution to help with this and squat? If so please recommend a product. The trailer has a 7777 pound weight.

The RoadActive Suspension Custom Leaf Spring Enhancement Kit - Heavy Duty # RAS94FR is rated for up to 3,000 lbs and the # RAS3611-B rated for 2,000 lbs are both good options for suspension enhancement to reduce sag.

If you want to reduce sway then you'd be better off using a weight distribution system with sway control integrated. I recommend the Strait-Line Weight Distribution System w/ Sway Control - Trunnion Bar - 12,000 lbs GTW, 1,200 lbs TW # RP66084 along with hitch ball # 19286. This will help reduce vehicle sag as well as be the best sway control option for your trailer.

Question:

Thank you for replying, I do have a weight distribution hitch, I purchased it along with the trailer. What about air bags?

Air springs are a great option for adjustability since you already have the weight distributions system. I recommend the Air Lift LoadLifter 5000 Air Helper Springs - Rear Axle # AL57268 which are a fit for your truck. It will adjust as needed to give stability and load leveling.

If you want adjustability at your fingertips, I recommend adding a wireless compressor like # AL74000EZ. This keeps you from running air lines into the truck cab and still allows monitoring and adjusting.
