Question:

Hey - I am purchasing a 19 F350 that has the hitch package and the Ford OEM hitch kit Reese 18k, which is unused and still in plastic. How would you compare this one to the more recommended 5th wheel hitches such as the companion. Should I just keep it, or should I try to sell it and get a different one? Thanks! -Newbie to hauling

For your 2019 Ford F-350 with the hitch package, the Ford OEM 18K is basically the same hitch as the Reese Elite Series Pre-Assembled 5th Wheel Trailer Hitch w/ Wiring Harness - Single Jaw - 18,000 lbs # RP30142 which is a great quality hitch.

When directly compared to the B&W Companion OEM 5th-Wheel Hitch for Ford Super Duty Prep Package - Dual Jaw - 20,000 lbs # BWRVK3300, the Reese hitch will be about 15 lbs lighter due to a slightly lighter gauge metal. The Companion is my favorite option but I don't know that I'd swap out what you already have since it is a great hitch in its own right. Some really like the OEM model because of the branding as well, so that is another positive in some eyes.
