Diode for Preventing Trailer 12 Volt Accessory Circuit From Backfeeding

Question:
Wanting to add a battery in my cargo trailer, I want to draw off the charge 12v wire, but will I need to put any type of diode so not to back feed power to the vehicle is still plugged in? Thank you

If you wanted to prevent the 12 volt trailer wiring circuit from backfeeding when connected to your trailer's battery you'd have to use a diode like the part # RM-690. This will only allow the current to flow in one direction.
