Hello Dustin,
Great question, the main difference between the two is the chain thickness. The # PWE3227S are 7 mm, and the # PWE2228S are 5.6 mm. This means that because the # PWE3227S are a little thicker it might result in a little bit of a rougher ride but in return will give you better traction in the harsh elements. Let's face it, no one really wants to put chains on their vehicle and both of them are going to give you a rougher ride, so why not go with the option that is going to give you more traction? If it were me, I would go with the # PWE3227S, not only do they have better traction, but they are also more cost effective.
With either option, I would definitely grab a set of the # TCMA3 for a nice snug fit.
One last thing, if you are not familiar with how these chains go on I strongly recommend doing a test fit somewhere dry and somewhat warm like in your garage. It is much easier to learn how to put these on dry and warm than freezing cold on the side of the road in a blizzard. I included an install video to help, I am sorry that it is on a Ford and not a Dodge.
If you have the opportunity to use them this winter, please let me know which ones you chose and what you thought of them.

Hey Dustin, how did things go with the pewag tire chains on your Ram 3500 this winter? Did the thicker 7 mm chains give you the traction you were hoping for? Your feedback could really help others choosing between these two options.
