Can the Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender Be Used With Cargo Carrier and How Much Can It Hold

Question:

Can this swing hitch be used with a cargo carrier where the weight of the carrier and its content is 210 pounds? It would be installed on a 2021 Jeep Gladiator with a class iv hitch with a 600# tongue weight with the basket 30inch x 60.

The Kuat Pivot 2 Swing Away Hitch Extender part # PVD20B can be used with bike racks, cargo carriers, or any other 2" hitch mounted accessory for that matter. In regards to weight, you have a 250 lb limit so this will be the weight of the bike rack with bikes or the weight of the cargo carrier with cargo. That said, the adapter does reduce hitch capacity by 50% and weighs 46 lbs so this will need to be taken into consideration as well.

For example, if the hitch capacity is 600 lbs then while using this adapter the new capacity is now 254 lbs ((600/2) - 46). Therefore, yes you will be good to go with the info provided.
