How to Improve a Rough and Bumpy Ride on a 2,000 Pound Fruefoff Trailer
Published 12/07/2012 >
Question:
Hi, I phoned a trailer manufacturer to ask about improving the rough ride and bouncing that can damage contents etc. They told me there was nothing that they can do for this 2000 lb. Fruehoff trailer. Do you have any suggestions?

I do have some suggestions. First off, make sure that the tongue weight is not too heavy or light. Typically tongue weight should be 10 to 15 percent of the gross trailer weight. A tongue weight that is too heavy would cause the rear end of the trailer to be more bouncy. Getting the trailer loaded properly will be the first thing you can do.
As far as aftermarket suspension enhancement using a system like # TTRA1702 would help but it is only rated for 1,000 pounds for the set. All the other systems for trailers are rated much too high to be of any help. So proper loading of the trailer is a necessity.
