How to Use a Coleman 285 Grill with RV Propane Tanks
Updated 10/20/2020 | Published 10/17/2020 >
Question:
Our trailer has a quick connect for an outside grille. There is a regulator in the system and the 285 also has a built in regulator. Can’t have 2!? Can you adapt it to a larger propane can or just bring another trailer to haul all those little green cans?

I have a solution for you, but I think using the quick disconnect for your Coleman 285 grill is going to be out of the question unless the regulator on the grill can be removed; sometimes they can, but I don't have any specific knowledge of whether this can be done on that specific grill. If the gas control/temperature control is separate from the regulator you might be able to do this.
I think the best solution to allow you to use your RV's propane tanks is going to be using the Camco Brass Propane Tee w/ 3 Ports and 12' Long Extension Hose # CAM59103, which you can then connect your Coleman 285 grill to and not worry about removing the regulator. It's not going to allow you to use the quick connect, but it will allow you to use the RV propane and you won't need to carry supplemental propane tanks.
I've linked a quick review video of this hose and tee for you to check out.
