Trailer Hitch for 2014 Subaru Forester That Does Not Have Vibration or Rattling
Question:
Hello, I just had a Curt 13399 installed by a hitch shop today. They said this hitch is the one I should use for my 2014 XT. But as I was driving home I notice a vibration in through whole car at 1300-1500rpm and became aware of the issue of the welded gusset. The shop offered to grind the gussets... which I obviously refused. I want them to find a compatible hitch which seems complicated unless going for much more expensive brands and increased lead time. I was wondering if the CU64FR would be compatible with the 2014 XT without conflicting with the dual exhaust hangers?

The Curt Trailer Hitch Receiver # CU64FR fits your 2014 Subaru Forester, and is the updated version of the 13399, though it does have the same welded gussets and it is possible to still conflict with the dual exhaust hanger.
We have not seen any complaints at all about this vibration occurring with the Draw-Tite Trailer Hitch Receiver # 76182, so that would be the other option I recommend, but if you want to totally avoid the gussets and guarantee no vibration at all, the only option is the EcoHitch Hidden Trailer Hitch Receiver # 306-X7216.
Like you mentioned, this is a more expensive hitch, but in regards to a solution, it's the only one I can tell you for sure won't have any issue with vibration as it does not have the welded gussets and won't interfere with your exhaust.
