Question:

Hi, I picked up some used Yakima overhaul HD towers since they all seem to be backordered from anywhere. And I need to order the cross bars do you have recommendations on length for a Ram 2500 truck. Im going back and forth between the 68inch or the 78inch Thanks

You really could use either one of the 68" # Y01158 or 78" # Y01159 bars, but I have a feeling that the 78" bars are going to stick out a little bit too far, so I do recommend going with the 68" Yakima HD Bars # Y01158. Obviously having longer bars means more space, but the usable space outside of the bars really isn't all that beneficial since it's not going to be able to bear heavier loads. The only time I would recommend going with longer bars in this case is if you were using an awning like the Yakima Slim Shady # Y36VR.

I've linked a review video of the 68" HD bars that are shown on a roof of a 2019 Ram 2500, but they'll give you a better idea of how much they might stick out. The 78" bars would add 5" on each side of the vehicle, so it just might be a little bit much. You can also measure across the bed to give yourself a better idea of how far they'll stick out and decide if it's too much.
