Can OEM Rims on 5th Wheel Handle Greater Pressure of Higher Load Range Replacement Tires

Question:

If you change your 5th wheel original tires that are rated for 80 psi, can you step up a load range that is rated for 115 psi, I understand the valve stems need to be changed, my question is can the oem room rims handle 115 psi?. Thanks

It would be difficult to say with absolute certainty as I don't know the manufacturer or the wheel and tire size but typically a given rim will be able to handle the air pressure in any tire that will fit upon it, according to what our wheel and tire distributors have told us whenever this question comes up. The valve stem is typically the pressure sensitive portion of the assembly, so as long as you replace that you should be just fine.

Keep in mind that increasing the load rating of your tires won't increase the weight capacity of your 5th wheel. You'll still be limited to the capacity of the lowest rated component, be it the axle, hubs, suspension, etc.

I've linked to our trailer wheel and tire help articles, which has a ton of helpful information that you might find useful.
